In 1962, the new Coventry Cathedral in the West Midlands was opened next to the ruins of the old. Although its catchment area is north Warwickshire, Exhall Grange School and Science College is in the north of Coventry.

For a short time off Lythalls Lane in Coventry, Speedway operated in the West Midlands.

In the 1920s and 1930s, major expansion to Coventry had taken place to provide housing for the large influx of workers who came to work in Coventry's booming factories. Radford, Coundon, Canley, Cheylesmore and Stoke Heath are the areas which were expanded or founded in this expansion.

With services provided by Virgin Trains, West Midlands Trains, Coventry railway station is served by the West Coast Main Line.

In the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) football competitions, Coventry University and the University of Warwick compete amongst the West Midlands.

After the majority of the 14th century building was destroyed by the Luftwaffe of 14 November 1940, the current Coventry Cathedral was built. In a play in the West Midlands, the Coventry Carol is performed.
